With Great British weather it is quite common to run two bikes, one with derailleur for summer and a singlespeed one in the winter. This design started off as a quest to design the most weather-proof Mountain bike for the worlds worst weather. This design can run the humble chain and derailleur or singlespeed, however it is also designed around the most weather-proof drive systems. The Pinion gearbox and Gates CDX Carbon-drive, ensuring quiet belt-drive miles.
All OLSEN bicycles can be designed to run a derailleur, however my frames have been designed to primarily to accommodate the Pinion gearbox and Gates Carbon Drive. This means that you can change your drive system without changing your frame. Gearboxes have more long-term benefits for mountain biking than an exposed rear derailleur system. Years of maintenance free cycling. 10000 quiet belt drive miles.
At OLSEN HQ I have developed techniques which allows me produce bespoke carbon bicycles. N-1, N-2 & N-3 are 3 different concepts.
N-1 Concept is based on monocoque construction, one design, customised to fit all purposes.
N-2 is what you want it to be, by using 3D printing it can be designed to any personalised geometry.
N-3 Concept is 3 bikes in one. Fixed, Single-speed, hub gear and of course derailleur if you must...
All OLSEN bicycles are based on maintenance free drive trains and take back the over hyped "labels" for everyday "uses". This is a rethink on how bikes are manufactured without big brand marketing, without expensive tooling and without boundaries. We can have multiple uses for one bicycles without feeling the need to only use it for "free-riding" or "gravel" riding. The Tour de France was ridden on gravel roads on fixed gears until after WW2. Mountain bikes had a total 1 inch front suspension for XC and DH in the 1990's. John Tomac won both DH and XC on the same bike… A bike is a bike and we should all remember what has been ridden in the past - before marketing.
